Why can't I send emails or materials to a purchased list? / Why so strong a spam policy?
Solution In regard to sending materials to a purchased lead, here is our policy:

We have a Zero-Tolerance No-Spamming policy.

According to the American Heritage dictionary, "spam" is defined as:

"Unsolicited e-mail, often of a commercial nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups; junk e-mail."

We hold this policy very strictly for multiple reasons:

Firstly, sending people unwanted emails reduces your rapport with them and the ability for you to credibly position yourself as an expert. As you read in the Renegade E-book, positioning yourself as an expert is VERY important to being taken seriously in this industry. Experts do not solicit themselves in an unwanted fashion. Rather, people come to experts because they are a valuable RESOURCE. It is far better to market a free or very low-cost information resource and have people come to YOU. When this happens, it's a lot easier for you (because you don't have to go chasing people down), and people take you more seriously (if they didn't, they wouldn't come to you)... which will ultimately lead to better success in selling your product and thus to bringing people into your business. Why would you willingly choose to do something that is harder for you and reduces your success?

Secondly, when our affiliates are sending out unwarranted emails, the recipients often will flag those emails as "spam" (rightly so), which in many cases gets reported to various services. But that has an effect on our emails as well. And if our emails have a reputation of being "spammy," then far fewer of them will actually get to the people who really do want to read them. We have had this situation occur before with entire internet service providers blocking our emails or parts of our emails--even though we did nothing wrong or unethical. When this happens, ALL of our affiliates are hurt, because our emails help YOU to be more effective. And, furthermore, if people generally perceive our emails to be spam, then they are surely not going to want to listen to what you have to say about it. Again, why would you choose to do something that hurts you in the long run?

Lastly, but surely not least, the US federal government has passed several laws that make many forms of "spamming" illegal. All you would need to do is Google "spam trial" to see several cases where spammers are being hit with multi-million dollar law suits and even prison trials. We do not want our affiliates incurring these kinds of legal situations for themselves or us.

In order for us to not consider your mass mailing as spam, they need to have been generated BY YOU (as in not purchased), and generated via an opt in process. We use and recommend a double opt-in process to ensure that they really do want to receive materials from you. An double opt-in process is where a person will fill out a form on your website with their information and then they will receive an email asking them to click a link in order to confirm. If they click that link, THEN their information is added to your list. We use this process on the 7 Great Lies landing page (www.the7greatliesofnetworkmarketing.com), so if you are curious as to what this looks like, simply go through the process to get the E-book.

If you need to set up an opt-in process for your website, we have several autoresponder tools for this in the "Training and Resources" section of your Renegade System account, such as Aweber, Oprius, and 1ShoppingCart.
