What do all these internet terms mean?
Solution URL:

Any internet address whatsoever. URLs begin with "http://". The URL is what you type in to your browser's address bar. Every web page (to be defined next) has its own specific URL. "URL" and "internet address" can be used interchangeably. If we liken this whole paradigm to a house, we could call this the specific names of each room in a house.

Web page:

The web page is the thing that you are looking at on the internet at any given time. When you click a link (which refers you to a different URL), you are sent to a new page. Continuing the house analogy, the web page would be the individual rooms. You can only be in one room at a time, and when you click a link, you are entering a new room.

Website:

This is the total collection of web pages under a larger category. A website has many web pages in it. The entire website is labeled by a domain name. The website would be the entire house.

Domain name:

This is the ____.com, ______.net, etc... Every website has a domain name. You're probably familiar with the Google website (google.com), the Yahoo website (yahoo.com), and of course our website (therenegadenetworkmarketer.com). This would be the name of the house (e.g. "Paul's House" or "Nadia's House").

Sub-domain name:

These are individual portions of a website, with their own label. They are not domains, because they all retain the same _____.com. A sub-domain is a label for a collection of certain web pages (as opposed to a domain which is a label for an entire site). This takes the form of http://_____.domainname.com. The primary domain for most websites is "www." Thus, if you want to go to the main PAGE of the WEBSITE with the DOMAIN name of google.com, you would enter in the URL or www(which is a subdomain).google.com. The sub-domain would be individual sections of the house. Each section of the house can have a collection of rooms, or only one room. Some houses have more sections than others. Some houses might only have one section.

To pull this into our system, when you become an affiliate, you get your own sub-domain of our website (we call it the affiliate URL). This might look like bob.therenegadenetworkmarketer.com. If people go here, they can purchase the E-book through you. You do not have much control of the content on this landing page, however, as it is written by some of the best writers in the industry.

If you purchase your own domain name, this means that you can have your own website. If you want to put a link on this site to your affiliate URL, you may do that, but it is not req1uired.
